Vadivelu making his debut in Malayalam !

Lately, the Malayalam cine circuit has become a hub for many Kollywood veterans. We have seen Sarath Kumar, Prabhu and now it is the time to welcome another senior comedian. His name is Vadivelu and he is making his debut with the film ‘Lucky Jokers’. The man to get him here is Aascar Films Ravichandran and the film will be directed by Sunil. Mammootty to team up with Adoor Gopalakrishnan

Mammootty is all set to team up with National award winning director Adoor Gopalakrishnan for the third time in his career. The film is likely to go on floors by August 2011. Mammootty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan have earlier worked together in Mathilukal and Vidheyan. Interestingly, for both these films, Mammootty bagged the National award for best actor.

Veendum Kannur begins in Kozhikode

Veendum Kannur, a sequel to Manoj K. Jayan-Vani Viswanath starrer Kannur, released in the 90s  went on floors in Kozhikode on Thursday. The film is directed by Haridas Keshavan. Popular Malayalam-Tamil actor Bala is the hero and model-dancer-singer Aishwarya Muraleedharan is the heroine.

The film, scripted by Robin Thirumala, who scripted the original, is produced by Nasser Thirur under the banner of Caipon Entertainment. Besides Bala, the film stars Feroz, Kalabhavan Mani, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jagathy Sreekumar, Janardhanan, Saikumar, Risabava, Mamukkoya, Augustine, Sadiq, Tony, Chalipala, Kiranraj, Shwetha Menon, Vani Viswanath, Urmila Unni, Usha and Ponnamma Babu.

Prabhu Deva-Ramlath file mutual divorce petition

In the midst of rumours that Prabhu Deva and Nayantara are likely to tie the knot soon, Prabhu Deva and his wife Latha aka Ramalath have finally filed a petition seeking mutual divorce before a Family Court. Prabhu Deva and Ramlath filed a petition submitting that all efforts taken by mediators and elders in their families failed to find a solution and they have agreed for divorce by mutual consent. Ramlath also withdrew her earlier petitions pending before the court.

The judge adjourned the matter for further hearing.

Earlier, Ramlath approached the Chennai Family Court pleading for restitution of conjugal rights after Prabhu Deva admitted his affair and forthcoming marriage with Nayantara. In her petition, Ramalath had accused Prabhu Deva of not taking care of domestic responsibilities and not paying money to run the household expenses after he allegedly fell in love with Nayantara.

Prabhu Deva and Ramlath were married on September 8, 1995 and had three sons. One of their sons passed away due to cancer.

'Raghuvinte Swantham Rasia'

If you are wondering what this is all about, here is the story. 'Raghuvinte Swantham Rasia' is the title of a new film and this is gearing up for launch. This has the hot Kannada beauty Meghna Raj in a key role. The story is about a Muslim girl who hails from a very rich family and she falls in love with a Hindu boy. Already, Meghna has worked with superstar Mammootty in another film and has grabbed a lot of attention.

All eyes on Prithviraj-Arya

It is not often that one gets to see a young team doing a multi-starrer of sorts. This time, it is the turn of the rising superstar Prithviraj and the raw hunk from Kollywood Arya to come together. All this is happening for the new movie 'Mumbai Police' and it is heard that both of them would be portraying the role of cops. The Mollywood audience is all eyes on this duo and they say that the film will be quite energising with their presence.

'Seniors' gets its leading lady

The most talked about film of the season is 'Seniors' and the reason for that is, it brings on the noted stars such as Jayaram, Biju Menon and Manoj K Jayan. Now, the news is that the film has got its leading lady and she is none other than Ananya. Kunchacko becomes 'Dr Love'

The handsome hero of Mollywood Kunchacko Boban has been coming up with versatile roles since his comeback. Now, there is news that he has signed up for a new film and this has been titled as 'Dr Love'. As the title indicates, this is slated to be a romantic entertainer filled with comedy and some sentiment. Kunchacko is pairing up with the talented girl Ananya in this one and it will be hitting the floors soon.

Sathyan Anthikkad Mohanlal Team Up Again

Sathyan Anthikkad's new film would have Mohanlal in the lead role.

The last time the director and the Megastar came together was for 'Innathe Chinthavishayam'. Sathyan's new film would be produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Ashirvad Cinemas.

The scripting is currently going on. Cinematography would be by Venu. The cast hasn't been finalized as yet.

Shoot of the film is expected to start by March. Mohanlal who has wrapped up 'Christian Brothers' is in Ooty shooting for Rafi-Mecartin's 'China Town'.

Ranjith and Mammootty to remake 'Arappatta Kettiya Gramathil'?

There are unconfirmed reports that director Ranjith and Megastar Mammootty are planning a remake of the Padmarajan classic 'Arappatta Kettiya Gramathil'.

The news has been received with much ovation by the film lovers of the state, since the original film had remained a perennial favourite for a long time.

It was reported recently that Mammootty had expressed a desire to act in the remake of the film, in which he had played the role of Zacharia.

Ranjith seems to the apt director who would do justice to the classic film, and its likely that the film would turn out to be another treat for the viewers from the Ranjith-Mammootty combo.

Mohanlal and Priyan team up

Mohanlal and his favourite director Priyadarshan have teamed up once again after seven years, to do a Malayalam film.

The shoot of the this untitled 'comedy caper' will start from February 15 in Abu Dhabi.

Priyan said:  "I have done nearly 40 films with Mohanlal in Malayalam, and last month we were in London shooting for Tez our first film together in Hindi. I love working with Mohanlal, he is the complete actor. Now after nearly seven years we are coming together again to start a Malayalam film next month which will be an out and out kickass comedy caper".

'China Town' progresses in Ooty

Since veteran director Joshy's latest multistarrer 'Christian brothers' is delayed much in its shooting schedules, Rafi-Mecartin were planning to complete their new multistarrer featuring Mohanlal, Dileep and Jayaram in a single schedule at Ramoji film city, Hyderabad.

But suddenly a film strike was announced in Andhra and the director duo has no other option, but to shift the locations to another amicable place.They have zeroed in on Ooty and now the shoot of the movie is progressing in a brisk pace in the beautiful valley.Rafi-Mecartin has earlier shot their hit movie with Lal, 'Hallo', at Ooty.

Mohanlal appear as Mathukutty, while Jayaram will be Savary and Dileep will become Benoy in the movie. Kavya Madhavan, Poonam Bawja and Deepa Shah are the heroines of this movie which will also have Captain Raju and Suraj Venjaramoodu in other important roles.

Scripted by the directors, the movie will have songs by Jassie Gift.The movie produced by Aashirwad cinemas will be completed in a single schedule and will grace the theatres as a Vishu release.

Vinayan for a 3D

After the recent horror flick 'Yakshiyum Njaanum',  director Vinayan has named his first 3D movie  as "Again Dracula'.The movie will present a fresh face named Sudheer as the hero.Vinayan will be shooting much of the movie at locales at Scotland, using the best of the technicians. Vinayan is currently busy completing his flick 'Reghuvinte Swantham Raziya', which will feature a bunch of new comers in the cast.

Lal is the Hero

Actor director and producer Lal has decided to take his acting career seriously. After his comic goonda role in ‘Best Actor’ has been appreciated, Lal is hot in acting circuit.

Now after ‘Tournament’ film, Lal will be seen as a hero in the new film ‘Salt and Pepper’ directed by Ashique Abu of ‘Daddy Cool’ fame. Swetha Menon is the heroine of Lal in this film.

Lal is also playing an important character in the Jayasuriya starrer ‘Payyans’ which will hit the theatres soon. Asif Ali and Maithili are his co-stars here.

Looking at the speed with which Lal is taking up acting assignments, there is a serious actor in the making.

Singer Jyotsna marries

Popular play back singer Jyotsna Radhakrishnan married Sreekanth at Guruvayoor Temple on Sunday, 26th of December 2010. The wedding was a private affair and only close friends and relatives attended.

Jyotsna started her singing career with ‘Valakilukkam Kettedee’ in Pranayamani Thooval in the year 2002. In her almost ten years career she has sung for more than 130 movies in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages.

Some of her hits include ‘Karuppinazhagu’ (Swapnakoodu), ‘Melleyonnu’ (Manassinakkare) and ‘Meheruba’ (Perumazhakkalam). She has also made 200 albums.
