King and Commissioner to start on April 25
Suresh Gopi after years has made up with Mammootty. Last week Suresh Gopi visited Mammootty's at his house in Kochi. They buried the hatchet and agreed to work together in the multi-starrer King and Commissioner
The meeting was arranged by Anto Joseph, leading producer and Mammootty's right-hand man. Shaji Kailas and Renji Panicker were also present at the meeting.
Meanwhile Shaji Kailas- Mammootty team has delivered another dud in the form of August 15, a failure at the box-office. Shaji is going through one of the toughest time in his career, but now both Mammootty
and Suresh Gopi has decided to back him up.
The shooting of King and Commissoner will start from April 25 in New Delhi, followed by another 10 days in Hyderabad. Later the rest of the film will be shot in Kochi.
Mammootty will play Thevalliparambil Joseph Alex IAS in the movie who will clash with Bharath Chandran IPS to be done by Suresh Gopi.
Renji Panikkar is going to write a script for Shaji Kailas after 17 years!

Urumi in 70 screens releasing on March 31
Santosh Sivan's magnum opus Urumi produced by August Cinema is confirmed to release in 70 screens in Kerala on March 31.
There is a lot of hype around this Prithviraj, Genelia, Prabhu Deva, Arya, Nithya Menen movie which has hit music by Deepak Dev.
Urumi is likely to be censored in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday, March 28. The film is being shown in two or more screens only in Thiruvananthapuram (Sreepadmanabha and Sri) Ernakulam (Padma, Sridhar,
Oberon Mall and Q Cinema) and Kozhikode (Kairali and Sri).
As per trade sources "the idea seems to have a limited release hoping that word-of-mouth makes it a hit".
Santosh Sivan, one of the producers and distributors said: "Urumi is targeted at mass audience since it embraces songs action and has very interesting actors from all over India. The film is a tale of romance,
friendship, revenge, and traces the arrival of the first white man, the gun, canon and other early weapons of war. It has all potential to be a big hit".

Payyans Movie Review
Do you enjoy the mushy tearjerkers on TV that seem to go on and on, with twists and turns, laughs, pathos and melodrama in excessive measures? Director Leo Thaddeus’ Payyans is almost on similar lines. There are some nice moments, of course, but you need to have real patience while waiting for them to happen!
Josy (Jayasurya) lives in a huge bungalow, with his mother Padma (Rohini). He is yet to complete his engineering and likes to go around in style, doing nothing worthwhile. His mother tries to make him disciplined, but she loves him a bit too much to impose any rules to make him realize all that.
There are no real clues about his dad, John Varghese (Lal), a marine engineer who never returned home after a trip to Sri Lanka. Josy becomes a radio-jockey pretty easily and falls in love with Seema (Anjali), a sound engineer at the radio station. Things take some dramatic turns, after some time.
With a script that is too preachy and even pretentious, the film has a shaky start and the first half is quite tedious. There are some characters like the one played by ‘Guinness’ Pakru that barely has any relevance in the story. It has perhaps been included for comic relief but you tend to cringe in your seats waiting for the story to happen in right earnest. Things get slightly better in the second half.
Jayasurya does the role of the protagonist in his usual style and there is not much to test his acting chops. Anjali, who stole many hearts with his scintillating performance in the Tamil hit Angaditheru, has a surprisingly insignificant role where all she has to do is just to look pretty, which she does.
Lal has done his role quite well and used his baritone voice in an effective way. Rohini has also done her role in a fine manner. Suraj Venjarammoodu repeats his trademark antics before turning serious, perhaps for a change! S G Raman’s visuals and Alphonse’ music are okay.
Payyans is all about the coming of age of a reckless youth. There is an inherent honesty about the storyline for sure, but even then it barely affects you with a shaky script and the narrative style is a tad too old. Now if you think all these fit your concept of entertainment, well, give this one a try.

August 15 Movie Review
Director Shaji Kailas has taken the character of the likeable cop Perumal from the 1988 film August 1 (directed by Siby Malayil) and has made the thriller, August 15.
While the earlier film (inspired from the 1973 movie The Day of the Jackal) was full of lively and powerful characters, including a tough looking professional killer played by Captain Raju, the new version is a letdown, without a credible storyline or a worthy script.
A feel of the earlier movie is intentionally maintained all along, but it turns out to be a meek looking misadventure.
Chief Minister Vasudevan (Nedumudi Venu) is in a critical condition in the hospital following a stroke and the top brass of the police is shocked to learn that actually he had been poisoned by someone.
The search for the culprit begins soon and the investigation is entrusted with Perumal (Mammootty). The killer and the main persons who plot against the chief minister are revealed pretty early and then, it is the investigation process that should be a gripping one. Sadly, it doesn’t happen so and the unraveling of the mystery is a boring affair here.
With an old narrative style, the film appears to be a never ending affair for the viewers, though the length is about two and a half hours. S N Swami’s script is too old fashioned and is based on a rather flimsy plot. The visuals by Pradeep Nair are okay.
In a role where his heroism is celebrated in virtually every frame, Mammootty looks handsome and has done the role in a devoted way. But all the efforts are not enough to salvage a poorly written film. Of course, there is enough for the gallery, as he takes on even the fiery criminals all alone, in style with his sunglasses intact and often without a gun!
Meghna Raj and Swetha Menon, the female leads as per the posters, have nothing much to do. Lalu Alex, as a silly ADGP, does manage to tickle the funny bone at times. Now, it is certainly not fair to compare a character in a film with one in the earlier version, but the professional killer played by Siddique is nowhere near the one made famous by Captain Raju.
You’ve to admit it,August 15 which is meant to be a thriller, fails to do so. Even if you are a hardcore fan of Mammootty, it won’t entertain you much. Watch it at your own risk!
