Film Star Malayalam Film Preview

Following the success of movies like 'Udhayannau Tharam', 'Chadhikkatha Chandhu' and 'Katha Parayumpol', which wisely used film making as an effective backdrop for storytelling, another movie is getting ready with a similar backdrop and narratives.

Titled as ‘Film Star’, this flick is directed by Sanjeev Raj in the scripts of S Suresh Babu.

The highlight of the ‘Film Star’is Dileep and Kalabhavan Mani coming together after a long time, for a movie playing full length characters. The movie narrates the story of the relationship between a film star and a villager. Certain incidents happen in their lives, which bring the duo close to each other,

Kalabhavan Mani in the movie is Sooryakiran, the present-day superstar in cinema, who fought through many ugly patches to climb up the ladder to celebrity status. Today he is one of the biggest stars in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.

Dileep appears as a scriptwriter named Nandhagopan in this movie. Nandhan is the son of local communist leader ‘Daivam Gopalan’ who lived and died like a communist, without making anything other than good name for himself and for his family. Nandhan had to cremate his father inside his small house as he could not find any suitable land outside for the deal.

It is into the busy life of Sooryakiran that Nandhan comes up with one of his scripts. Even after many appointments with Sooryakiran, Nandhan couldn’t persuade the superstar to find time to read the scripts presented by him. At last, fed up with the star tantrums, Nandhan throws his scripts towards Sooryakiran and walks out of his room.    This incident forced Sooryakiran to go through the scripts, which s a fascinating life sketch of the people of Chittaramthody, Nandhan’s home village. Sooryakiran finds that the scripts throw light to the bad life situations of thousands of people who were forced to relocate to a marshy land, following the arrival of a factory to their home village.

Sooryakiran who is deeply moved by the power of the scripts decides to make it a movie and plans to travel to the village to know for himself, the actual plight of the inhabitants who had been there for the last fifteen years.

Once in the village, he realizes the untold woes of the displaced villagers, whose leader comrade Raghavan is killed under mysterious circumstances. Nandagopan who tries to find out the truth behind the death of Comrade Raghavan, is brutally attacked.

Sooryakiran now decides to lead the agitation to find a way out of suffering, for the villagers. The movie thus tells the magnificent effects that celebrities can bring out in the life of common people, with their activist interventions.

The movie will feature ‘Thalaivasal’ Vijay, Muktha, Ramba, Vijayaraghavan, Salimkumar, Jagathy Sreekumar, Ashokan, Devan, Sadhique, Narayanankutty, Mukundan and Kottayam Nazeer in other important roles.

Cinematographed by Salu George, the art departments of ‘Film Star’ is handled by award winning art director Suresh Kollam.

‘Film Star’ features four songs by Sachithanandhan Puzhakkara, set to music by Benny Johnson and Vijayan Poonjar.

Produced by Joseph Thomas in the banner of Wide Screen cinema, the movie is in its final stages of shooting at Thodupuzha.
