Makaramanju Malayalam Movie Preview

Lenin Rajndran's new film 'Makaramanju' tells two stories of love - that of a painter, and of his creation.

In 'Makaramanju', ace cinematographer Santhosh Sivan plays Raja Ravi Verma, the celebrated painter in the process of painting a masterpiece.

The theme of his painting is Pururavas, the legendary king who fell in love with the heavenly nymph Urvasi. She agrees to become his wife on certain conditions, but disappears without a trace when she discovers that the conditions were violated.

A totally devastated Pururavas wanders all around to find her and ultimately does get united with his lover.

On another level the painter of the myth, Raja Ravi Verma finds himself attracted to his model Anjali Bhai (Karthika) and together they are thrown into a torrent of love and passion from which they find it difficult to scape.

Jagathy Sreekumar plays Govardhandas Makhanji, Ravi Verma's business partner, while Bala plays Raja Raja Verma, Revi Verma's younger brother. Lekshmi Sharma plays Bhageerathi, Ravi Verma's wife while Chithra Iyer plays Rukku Bhai, Anjali's mother.

Lenin Rajendran's film thus chronicles love that transcends time and move towards a point when myth becomes one with reality.

The film has three songs composed by Pandit Ramesh Narayanan, and the lyrics have been penned by Kavalam Narayana Panicker and K. Jayakumar. Hariharan, Sujatha, Srinivas, Anuradha Sriram and Madangi have lent their voices for the songs.

Scripted by the director himself, the film has been produced by Green Cinema.
